Bianca: The Heart of Aeralife’s Culture and Care

Staff stories

At Aeralife, we pride ourselves on creating a workplace that feels like a familya place where our employees are supported, valued, and encouraged to grow both personally and professionally. One shining example of this is Bianca, a dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) who has been with Aeralife for five years. From her humble beginnings as a placement student to becoming an integral member of our team, Bianca’s journey is a testament to the values that define Aeralife’s Culture and the deep commitment we have to both our residents and staff.

“Bianca is an exceptional member of our team,” says Carina, Residence Manager at Aeralife. “She truly goes above and beyond in her role, creating deep, meaningful connections with our residents and showing incredible care and dedication in everything she does. She embodies the spirit of Aeralife in so many ways.”

Bianca’s Journey: From Placement to Passion

Bianca’s path to aged care was a personal one, rooted in a deep love and respect for older generations. “I’ve always loved being around older people,” she says. After travelling around Australia, she decided to pursue a Cert IV in Aged Care, with the goal of making a real difference in the lives of the elderly. She did her placement at Aeralife’s Watergardens residence, where she immediately felt a sense of belonging.

“The training here was really good, and the staff were so supportive,” Bianca reflects. It wasn’t long before her placement turned into a permanent job offer, giving her the opportunity to build a fulfilling career at a place that genuinely cares about her development.

A Day in the Life at Aeralife

Bianca’s role is dynamic, working mainly in the Sunrise section, though she also picks up shifts in Iris to help provide care across the residence. Despite the demands of her role, Bianca finds her work deeply rewarding. “The residents here are like my family now,” she says, a sentiment that reflects the strong bonds she has developed over the years.

Every day, Bianca’s routine involves making sure the residents are up, dressed, and ready for the day, but her role extends far beyond just physical care. It’s about offering emotional support and companionship. Whether she’s assisting with personal care, chatting with residents, or joining in on activities like music and exercise, Bianca ensures that every resident feels connected, valued, and happy.

For Bianca, the most rewarding aspect of her job is the relationships she builds with the residents. “It’s not just a job for me,” she says. “I look after them like I would my own grandparents. It’s about making sure they feel loved, heard, and not alone.”

A True Reflection of Aeralife’s Culture & Values

Bianca’s approach to care truly reflects Aeralife’s culture, where compassion, respect, and dedication are at the heart of everything we do. Here’s how Bianca’s values align with the principles that shape Aeralife’s environment:

  • Compassion in Action: Bianca’s empathy and compassion are at the core of her work. She takes the time to understand each resident’s individual needs, ensuring that they are not only cared for physically but also emotionally. • Respect for Every Individual: Bianca treats every resident with the utmost respect, taking the time to learn about their lives, their preferences, and their histories. Whether she’s assisting with personal care or simply sitting down to chat, she ensures that everyone feels valued and heard.
