Discovering purpose within life at Aeralife and aged care
When Analie first volunteered in an aged care home, she simply wanted to understand what the environment was really like before committing to the industry. Having migrated to Australia from the Philippines in 2019, she was curious, cautious and open to learning. What she discovered instead was a deep sense of purpose.
“I realised this work is different. It is challenging, but it is meaningful.”
That early experience planted the seed for a career that would soon become her passion – and an introduction to life at Aeralife.
Finding her place in life at Aeralife
Analie began her journey with the organisation in another role, but it was watching the Lifestyle Coordinator that truly inspired her. Encouraged by colleagues, she stepped into lifestyle support believing it would be centred around creativity and connection. What she quickly discovered was that it also required strong organisation, documentation and planning.
“At first I thought it would just be decorating and activities. Then I saw all the documentation and thought, oh my goodness.”
There was a moment when she nearly gave up. Instead, she chose to challenge herself and grow.
“I told myself I can do this, so I have to prove it. One step at a time.”
With the guidance of her managers and the support of her team, Analie completed her Certificate IV in Lifestyle. Today, she works across both Lifestyle and PCA shifts and is known as one of the most dedicated and dependable team members in the home – a true reflection of the Aeralife aged care lifestyle in action.
Building trust through genuine care
For Analie, trust is built through sincerity and consistency. She believes residents immediately sense whether care is genuine and that real connection cannot be forced.
“You can feel it in the way you talk to them. They feel your sincerity. It is not about doing your job only. It is about how much you really care.”
One powerful moment that stayed with her was when a resident was hesitant about a medical decision and asked to speak with Analie first. After sitting together and talking it through, he felt comfortable to proceed.
“He trusted me, and after our conversation, he felt at ease.”
It is moments like these that remind Analie why the small interactions matter so much – and why life at Aeralife is built on trust, compassion and respect.
Bringing joy to everyday life at Aeralife
Analie brings warmth and joy into everything she does. From dancing at events to dressing up in costume, she embraces every opportunity to lift the mood and create happiness. She is well known throughout the home for her infectious energy and playful spirit.
“I do not care what costume I wear. As long as they laugh, I will do it.”
Her favourite part of the role is keeping spirits high and helping residents feel engaged.
“When they smile, it lifts your spirit too.”
Many residents recognise her voice before they even see her – a testament to the strong connection she builds every day through consistency and care within the Aeralife aged care lifestyle.
Recognition and belonging at Aeralife
In 2025, Analie received an employee award, a moment she describes as unexpected and deeply meaningful. She never works for recognition, simply for the love of the role and the people she cares for.
“When I got the certificate, I was really proud. It showed my hard work meant something.”
For Analie, the award was not about status. It was reassurance that her impact was being felt – another example of life at Aeralife celebrating dedication and heart.
Family, purpose and community
With two adult children still living in the Philippines and her youngest daughter now in Australia, Analie carries the emotional balance of distance and responsibility. Travel is difficult with work demands and staff shortages, but she never wavers in her commitment.
“I cannot just leave. I have an obligation to the residents.”
She describes her colleagues and residents as her extended family – a community that has given her belonging and strength.
“When you do not share your feelings, it becomes heavy. Here, I can talk and be understood.”
A message from the heart
When asked what she would say to someone considering a career in aged care, Analie is open and honest. It is not easy work, she says, but it is deeply rewarding for those who come with the right heart.
“This job is challenging. You need patience, love and the right attitude. It cannot be just a job. You must care.”
To future residents and families, her message is simple and reassuring.
“You are not alone here. The staff will look after you. Someone will always listen.”
The words that guide her every day are just as simple.
“Enjoy what you have now. Be happy.”
