The NSW Regional Maintenance Officer is responsible to provide acceptable standards of maintenance services to all plant, equipment, building and landscaping at designated Aeralife homes.  

This position is based on one of the Aeralife NSW Homes and required travelling across NSW Homes. Reporting directly to the Regional Operations Manager – NSW key responsibilities include:

  • Provide maintenance and management support as required to the region.
  • Conduct site audit which includes quality and risk assessment of the home every 3 months.
  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance
  • Ensure all passive and active fire systems are maintained in working order and certified to meet the requirements of the certification instruments of the Aged Care Act 1997 and the Building Fire Safety Regulations.
  • Purchase of supplies and materials through the General Manager’s delegation and ensure all tax receipts and invoices are provided and submitted promptly for reconciliation
  • Review respective Asbestos Registers annually as per statutory requirements
  • Obtain quotes for services required (above $1K), to Human Resource and Procurement Manager for review and submission to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are in good and safe working order
  • Ensure tools, equipment and any chemicals used to complete your tasks are monitored for resident safety at all times.
  • Maintain an understanding of Workplace Health and Safety and ensure all obligations are met
  • Ensuring a current a comprehensive equipment index and maintenance audit system linked to appropriate standards supported by written specifications including assessing tool/ equipment standards are met and reviewed annually
  • Review and report any building damage to Maintenance Manager
  • Maintain an asset and condemned property register across Heritage Care
  • Trial and evaluate new plant and equipment prior to purchase
  • Provide assistance to induct contractors and complete associated paperwork as required
  • Assist with room set up to ensure rooms are in excellent condition prior to resident admission

What you will bring

  • Demonstrated relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably possessing a certificate in building work such as carpentry or joinery
  • The ability and competency to use a wide range of equipment and tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) appropriate to work within a culturally diverse aged care environment
  • Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise competing tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to use a computer and relevant software
  • An understanding of and commitment to compliance of WH&S legislative requirements
  • Current NDIS Workers Screening Check
  • Current Covid-19 Vaccinations – highly recommended.
